Affiliation of
Ultrasound Training Provider Organizations

AFFILIATION – REFERENCE TO CONTEXT
The term Affiliation is used to define a process of establishing the competence of any institution desiring of delivering training on Medical Diagnostic Ultrasound. The affiliation process conducted by Bangladesh Society of Ultrasonography (BSU) will carry out the evaluation of competence and availability of the desired infrastructure/ capability of creating the desired infrastructure matching the needs/ requirements of delivering training. Thus, the purpose of affiliations is to maintain high standards of quality in delivering training to the doctors leading to educational diplomas and certifications.
PROCEDURES FOR AFFILIATION
The Training Provider Organization (TPO), which may be a center/school/institute and which seeks affiliation from BSU should have to apply to the President, BSU in a prescribed form along with all supporting evidence as mentioned in Annexure-1.
An application fee is to be submitted, as decided by BSU
BSU will evaluate all the documents and may ask for any queries.
BSU will physically inspect the facilities.
If eligible, the Affiliation will be valid for five years. Before ending the validity, the institution should apply for renewal along with a renewal fee.
BSU upon approval will grant the renewal.
REQUIREMENTS FOR AFFILIATION
The institution which seeks affiliation from BSU should have a written mission statement. The mission shall guide the establishment of the training management system and the general operation of the organization. The institution should:
- Have clearly defined objectives that are helpful in establishing a training system.
- Have documented processes and procedures covering the entire gamut of training including the ones relating to continual improvement of these processes and procedures.
- Physically possess the resources required to run and operate a vocational training system.
- Have documented processes that will help BSU to review and analyze the operational processes and procedures.
- The examinations of the trainees should be conducted with the participation of BSU representative.
1) Organization Details/Profile of the Management Team:
The factual information of the organization/center/TP and its management team should be provided:
- Details of the organization applying for the proposal.
- Prior exposure of the organization in skill development/education.
- Details of other affiliations, if applicable
- Educational qualification and experience of the management team.
- Profile of the trainers
- Training courses/programs offered including a list of content and training materials available
- Management committee shall identify all statutory and regulatory requirements for compliance.
2) Responsibilities of the Management Team:
- Head of Institution/Center/TP may be designated as Director/ Principal/ Chairman/ Managing Director/ CEO.
- The head shall be empowered by the management committee of the respective institution to carry out day to day functioning of the Institution.
- The head shall clearly describe the management structure.
- The head shall decide and implement the processes which support the development and deployment of the Institution/center system.
- The responsibility and authority of all personnel involved in key functional areas shall be defined and communicated within the Institution.
- The head shall monitor to ensure that the requirements of these criteria are being implemented. Will periodically report BSU on the compliance of criteria and the need for improvement.
3) Teaching Process:
- Time Table
- Delivery Plan
- Monitoring and Evaluation process of students – Continuous assessments
- Management of student evaluation records
- Lab/Workshop exposure and its linkage to theoretical delivery
- Training Material / Curriculum / Syllabus of each course
- Quality equipment
4) Training of Trainers:
Provisions of Training of Trainers, which will expose participants to enhance further skill training
5) Certification of the trainees:
If the training course is designed by BSU and run by the organization itself; then the course may be certified by BSU after evaluation from BSU.
If the training course is designed and run by the organization itself; then the organization may certify that course after evaluation from BSU.
If the training course is designed, evaluated and certified by a 3rd party within Bangladesh, then that 3rd party must be of good reputation and acceptable by the medical community of the country.
If the training course is designed, evaluated and certified by a 3rd party outside Bangladesh, then that 3rd party must be of good international reputation and accredited by the competent authority.
BSU will take assistance if necessary, from suitable persons/bodies both in or outside of the country to facilitate the evaluation process.
06) Financial Resources:
The Institution shall provide financial resources which shall be capable of sustaining a sound educational training program consistent with its stated mission and objectives for long-term stability.
