Annual Activities 2016<\/h2>\n\n\n

The 21st National Conference of the Society of Nuclear Medicine, Bangladesh <\/strong>was successfully held in Grand Park Hotel, Barisal on 19 February 2016. It was attended by 175 participants including SNMB members, SNMB Associates, SNMBT members, accompanying persons, trade delegates as well as guests and volunteers. The inaugural session started in the morning and Professor Bhaskar Saha, Principal, Sher-e-Bangla Medical College, graced the occasion as chief guest and Professor M.A.Karim, Ex President of SNMB also enlightened the stage with his presence. Dr. Azmal Kabir Sarker, SMO, NINMAS received the prestigious \u201cYoung Scientist Award\u201d this year. It was a successful event and the participants were immensely benefited from the lectures of plenary sessions addressed by renowned nuclear medicine specialists. The participants also shared their scientific research works through the twelve proferred oral presentations. There was a special lecture by Professor Raihan Hussain, President, SNMB on the  history of Nuclear Medicine in Bangladesh, taking the audience on a ride to the memory lane. The AGM was held in the afternoon. After the whole day academic program the evening started with the bliss of relaxation of the Gala dinner and cultural show by a famous cultural group of Barisal. The raffle draw took place to add an extra feather to the excitement. It was a pleasure for us to have your whole-heartedly support and full cooperation to hold and make success this great event.<\/p>\n

The post conference tour to Kuakata on 20-21 February was an extravaganza event. On one end there was the scenic, sublime and serene Kuakata beach with both sunrise and sunset. On the other hand there was journey to exotic Fatrar Char a part of Sunderbans and motorbike ride to Gangamotir Char to view the sunrise. I hope the participants had a life time experience with adrenaline rush. The barbeque dinner, lively cultural show performed by the participants themselves and the moonlit beach made the trip more memorable.<\/p>\n

The 2016 Asian Nuclear Medicine Academic Forum has successfully concluded at Shanghai University of Medicine & Health sciences in China. Attended by more than 300 participants from 27 regions across Asia in the Forum, this event co-hosted the second Asian Nuclear Medicine Academic Forum and the Third Rising NM Physician Challenge. 15 delegates from  Bangladesh attended the meeting.  There were four oral presentation and three poster presentation from Bangladesh. Md Anwar-Ul Azim, SSO, NINMAS, Dhaka from Bangladesh bagged the best poster presentation award on \u201cNeurology\u201d while Md Kabiruzzaman Shah, Director, INMAS Rajshahi did the same on \u201cThyroid Disease\u201d.<\/p>\n

World Thyroid Day was observed on 25 May 2016. The members of SNMB joined the rally and attended scientific program jointly arranged by National Institute of Nuclear Medicine & Allied Sciences, Dhaka and The Department of Endocrinology, BSMMU.<\/p>\n

A seminar on \u201cThyroid and Nuclear Medicine\u201d in observance of the World Thyroid Day was held in Rajshahi on 28 May, 2016 in collaboration with INMAS, Rajshahi. Brig Gen A.S.M Rafiqul Islam, Director, Rajshahi Medical College Hospital graced the occasion as the chief guest<\/p>\n

Seven delegates from Bangladesh attended the 15th<\/sup> Annual General Meeting of ARCCNM held in Shenyang, China from July 14-16, 2016. Prof. Shamim Momtaz Ferdousi Begum, CMO and Dr. Nasreen Sultana, PMO of NINMAS achieved the Fellow of Asian Board of Nuclear Medicine (FANMB) certificate in the ABNM examination this year.<\/p>\n

The 11th<\/sup> ICRT (International Conference on Radiopharmaceutical Therapy) was held in Cochin, India from 13-17 November. A five member delegation from Bangladesh attended the conference with their scientific presentations.<\/p>\n
