The Bangladesh Society of Ultrasonography (BSU) is the official organ of the physicians working in the field of Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound in Bangladesh. It was established in 1989 with a very few members who were pioneer of Ultrasonography in Bangladesh. At present about 200+ physicians are the members of this society.
Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission first introduced ultrasound in medical diagnostic field in our country in early part of 1980’s through Institute of Nuclear Medicine in Dhaka. Soon a few private centres also came forward. The new imaging modality became very popular among the doctors as well as among the patients within a very short time. The demand of the subject grew very fast. But there were only a hand counted qualified doctors in that field. The pioneers took the challenge to take this new subject ahead and to do that they felt to form a society and BSU is the result of that necessity.
